Some bay windows have large window sills downstairs and narrow sills upstairs.

This is normal, and usually doesn’t cause any problems, but every window can be different.

If you have a small sill, sometimes shutters will need to be fitted to the window itself, others have chosen to extend the sill to make it look better, or on double glazed bays remove some of the plastic trim that can limit the space where the shutter frame would fit.

Low profile handles would definitely be an advantage and using the medium louvres rather than large so they don’t protrude as much.

To find out what’s possible, I would recommend booking up on a virtual survey for some advice or emailing us some clear photos of your bay sizes of the window sill depth.
