Some bays have lintels that protrude down from the ceiling in front of your window.

I wanted to put your mind at ease and let you know that should still be able to have shutters fitted.

The only limitations are that the side shutters might not open fully as they will hit the lintel when you open them. However, as most shutters are left closed, this does not cause any issues, and there is normally room to open them just for cleaning.

In some cases, the protruding lintel can be very close to the window affecting the width of the side frames. In these cases, the shutter frame could have a cut out around the lintel providing more clearance.

To find out what’s possible, I would recommend booking up on a virtual survey for some advice or emailing us some clear photos of your bay showing the lintel.
